Who runs Club Book
Club Book is an independent project run by an individual, not a company. For any question about your data, write to the address at the end of this page.
What we keep about you
From your sign-in: name, email, profile picture and language. You never type any of it into a form of ours — it comes from Google or from the magic link you used to sign in.
From your use: the clubs you belong to, the books you suggest, your votes, your ratings and your likes.
If you create a voting link on the page for choosing the club's book, we store the list of books, the rule, the vote count and the link to your account, which is what lets only you close the vote. Voters don't give a name or e-mail: the browser keeps a random key so the same person can change their vote, and we store only a scrambled version of it (a hash) — never your IP and never who voted for what. If you delete your account, the votes you created are deleted with it.
If you sign in to use the page for choosing the club's book, we store in your account which way of deciding you used (draw, bracket or vote), when and how many times. The book list for the draw and the bracket never leaves your browser.
We don't ask for or keep your address, phone number, ID or any payment details. Club Book is free and charges nothing.
What we use it for
To make the product work: showing your name to the other club members, crediting you for the books you suggested, counting your votes and keeping the group's shelf.
To e-mail you when a voting round opens in your club. You can turn this notice off at any time in your preferences.
To let you know by e-mail when a club's admin approves your request to join, in clubs that require approval.
To send you, now and then, e-mails with ideas for your club — for example, when a club you created stopped halfway through setup, or when you picked a book on the page for choosing the club's book and haven't taken the decision to a club yet. Every one of these e-mails has a link to stop them with one click, and stopping them doesn't turn off the round notice.
Who can see it
Your club's members see your name, your picture, the books you suggested and the ratings you gave — the ratings only when the club is set to show them. Your votes and likes are anonymous: they show up in the total, without your name.
If the club is public, your name and the book list are visible to anyone on the explore page, even without an account. A private club is reachable only through an invite link.
We don't sell your data, we don't share it with advertisers, and there is no advertising on Club Book.
How we measure usage
We record a few events to understand what works on the home page — for example, that someone opened the page or clicked a button.
These records are anonymous by design: they don't store who you are, your IP address, or which browser you use. They stay in our own database and are not sent to any analytics company.
We don't use tracking cookies and there is no third-party tracker on our pages. That's why you have never seen a cookie banner here.
Services we use
Supabase, which holds the database with everything above and handles login.
Cloudflare, which hosts the site and forwards to us the emails sent to contact@clubbook.app.
Google, when you choose to sign in with a Google account. In that case Google tells us your name, email and picture — and nothing else.
Google Books and Open Library, to look up cover, title and author when someone suggests a book. We send only the search text, never who is searching.
An e-mail delivery service, to deliver the magic sign-in link, the round-opened notice, the join-approved notice and the e-mails with ideas for your club.
An AI service, and only when you ask: if the list you pasted to import your shelf isn't read automatically, a button appears to try it with AI. Only on that click does the pasted text leave here. It isn't used to train anything and isn't kept there.
Your rights
Brazil's data protection law (LGPD) gives you the right to know what we keep, correct what is wrong, and ask for your data to be deleted.
To delete your account, open “My account” in the site menu and use “Delete my account”. We delete your profile, your ratings and reviews, and your likes, and unlink from the clubs the books you suggested and your votes in rounds that have already closed. If you administer a club with other people, hand over the administration first; a club where you're the only member is deleted along with it.
For your other rights, or if you'd rather ask for deletion by email, write to the contact below. We reply within 15 days.
How long we keep it
Your profile data stays for as long as your account exists. Club content stays with the club, because it belongs to the group, not to one person.
The usage events described above are deleted after 180 days.
Votes by link are deleted 60 days after they close.
Changes to this policy
If anything meaningful changes, we update the date at the top of this page. It's worth rereading now and then.
